This page is for the owner of a Squad workspace. It covers the Billing screen: your subscription, credit purchases, auto-recharge, the lock screen, and how to export, reset, or delete your workspace. For what each charge pays for, see What Squad costs and what uses credits.

Open Billing

Open the account menu and select Billing. You can also go to Settings > Billing. The Billing screen shows your plan, your payment method, your credits, and your credit usage.

How you pay

You pay for Squad at checkout, before your workspace is built. Squad has no free trial. The plan renews each month. For the current price, see Squad pricing.

Change your payment method

  1. Open Settings > Billing.
  2. On the PAYMENT METHOD card, select Open portal.
  3. Change the card in the billing portal.
The dashboard does not show your card details. The PAYMENT METHOD card says “Managed in your billing portal”.

Manage your subscription

On the plan card, select Manage subscription. The billing portal opens. You can see your subscription there and change your payment details.

Cancel your subscription

1

Open Billing

Open Settings > Billing.
2

Start the cancellation

On the plan card, select Cancel subscription.
3

Give a reason

In the dialog “Before you go, tell us why”, type your reason. The reason must have at least 20 characters.
4

Confirm

Select Cancel my subscription.
The cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. Your squad keeps working until that date. After you cancel, the plan card shows the tag Ending and the message “Your subscription is canceled.” with the end date. The card also says that your workspace and agents are deleted on that date. In practice, the workspace is locked on that date and scheduled for deletion. See What happens at the end date.
The billing portal from Manage subscription can also cancel your subscription. The Cancel subscription button on the Billing screen does the same thing.

Undo a cancellation

Before the end date, you can keep your subscription.
  1. Open Settings > Billing.
  2. On the plan card, select Keep my subscription.
Your plan continues without a change. You cannot keep a subscription in these cases. The plan card then shows no Keep my subscription button and says why:
  • “Your subscription also has an unpaid invoice, so it cannot be kept until the invoice is settled.” Pay the invoice in the billing portal first. Select Manage subscription to open it.
  • “This subscription has already been canceled, so it cannot be kept.” Start a new subscription instead.

What happens at the end date

After the end date, your workspace is locked and scheduled for deletion.
  • Your agents stop working.
  • The email inboxes of your agents are removed and stop receiving mail.
  • The dashboard shows only the lock screen.
Export your data before the end date. After the deletion date, Squad can remove your data without more notice. For the steps, see Export your data.

If a payment fails

When a renewal payment fails, your squad keeps working for 7 days. The dashboard does not show a warning during these 7 days. If the payment is still not made after 7 days:
  • Your workspace locks. The lock screen shows “Payment past due”.
  • The email inboxes of your agents are removed.
To fix a failed payment, select Manage subscription on the Billing screen and update your payment method. On the lock screen, select Renew subscription.

Use the lock screen

The lock screen replaces the dashboard when your subscription is canceled, paused, or past due. The lock screen also has these buttons: A canceled workspace also shows its deletion date: “Scheduled for deletion on” a date. After that date, the screen says “Past its deletion date: your data may be removed at any time.”

Buy credits

Before you start, your subscription must be active. A locked workspace cannot buy credits.
1

Open Billing

Open Settings > Billing.
2

Set the number of packs

On the Buy credits card, use + and − to set the number of packs.
3

Select the buy button

Select the buy button. Its label is Buy · and the total price.
4

Read the dialog

Read the dialog. It shows the price and the number of credits.
5

Confirm the payment

Select the pay button to confirm. Its label is Pay, the total price, and now. To stop, select Cancel.
Squad charges the card on file for your subscription. You can buy from 1 to 20 packs in one purchase. Check that it works: the card shows ”✓ [credits] credits added. Your card was charged $[amount].” with your numbers. The credits reach your balance when the payment completes, usually within a few seconds. The Credits left tile shows the new balance. If the card is declined, the card shows “Card declined — please update your card on file and try again.” Update the card with Open portal, then try again.

Turn on auto-recharge

1

Open Billing

Open Settings > Billing.
2

Turn on the switch

On the Auto-recharge card, turn on the switch.
3

Set the threshold

In When credits drop below, type the balance that starts a purchase.
4

Set the pack count

In Buy this many packs, type the number of packs for each purchase.
5

Set the monthly maximum

In Never buy more than, type the maximum number of packs for each month.
The form saves your changes by itself. The card shows the maximum that auto-recharge can spend in a month. To turn auto-recharge off, turn off the switch. The card then says “Off. You’ll need to top up manually when credits run low.”

Export your data

  1. Open Settings > Backup & Export.
  2. On the Export workspace card, select Export JSON.
Your browser downloads the file mission-control-export.json. The export includes:
  • Your workspace details
  • Your agents: name, role, emoji, bio, and status
  • All missions, with their comments
  • All docs
  • The latest 500 activity items
  • The latest 500 squad chat messages
The export does not include:
  • Run history
  • Email messages
  • Memory
  • Skills
  • Settings, AI connections, and integration credentials
  • Activity and squad chat older than the latest 500 items
The Export workspace card says “Download every mission, doc, email and setting as a single JSON file.” The file does not contain email or settings. Keep your own copy of anything else that you need.

Reset your workspace

A reset deletes your agents, missions, docs, chat, and settings. It also removes the email inboxes of your agents and your custom email domain, and disconnects your connected apps. It then sends you back to setup, so that you can build a new squad. A reset does not cancel your subscription.
You cannot undo a reset. Export your data first.
1

Open General settings

Open Settings > General.
2

Start the reset

In DANGER ZONE, select Reset workspace.
3

Type RESET

In the dialog “Reset this workspace?”, type RESET.
4

Confirm

Select Reset workspace.
Check that it works: the message “Workspace reset. Taking you to setup” appears, and the setup page opens. If a reset or a build is already running, Squad refuses the reset and tells you to wait a few minutes.

Delete your workspace

The dashboard cannot delete a workspace. In Settings > General > DANGER ZONE, the Delete… button shows “Contact support to delete a workspace”. To delete your workspace, email support@squad.so from your account email. For how to write the request, see Get help.

Get a refund

Your first payment has a 7-day money-back guarantee. The rules are on the Refund Policy page:
  • The guarantee covers your first payment only.
  • To ask for a refund, email support@squad.so from your account email within 7 days of subscribing.
  • The refund goes back to your original payment method, usually in 5 to 10 business days.
  • Your workspace closes when the refund is issued.
  • Renewals and credit purchases are not refundable.

Check that it works

  • After a cancel, the plan card shows Ending and the end date.
  • After Keep my subscription, the plan card shows Active again.
  • After a credit purchase, Credits left shows the higher balance.
  • After an export, you have the file mission-control-export.json.

Troubleshooting

The Cancel my subscription button is gray. Your reason is shorter than 20 characters. The dialog says “Please write at least 20 characters.” Write a longer reason. Keep my subscription does not show. Your subscription has an unpaid invoice, or it is already canceled. The plan card says which. Pay the invoice with Open portal on the PAYMENT METHOD card, or start a new subscription. I resubscribed but the lock screen still shows. Select Already resubscribed? Refresh access. If the screen stays, email support@squad.so.
