Before you buy

Squad gives you a team of AI agents in a web dashboard. A lead agent, named Chief of Staff by default, plans the work and adds more agents when you need them. The agents run on their own workspace computer, on the AI account that you connect. You give them work in chat or as missions. When they need a decision from you, they open a ticket. See What Squad is.
A Squad subscription and an account with an AI provider, such as ChatGPT or Claude. Your agents run on your AI account. See Connect your AI subscription.
No. You pay at checkout, before your workspace is built. Your first payment has a 7-day money-back guarantee. See Get a refund.
There is one monthly plan. For the price, see Squad pricing. Your AI provider bills you for model usage. Research tools use credits, and each workspace gets included credits every month. Email inboxes are a paid add-on. See What Squad costs and what uses credits.
ChatGPT · Codex, Claude Code, Claude, Grok, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, Kimi, MiniMax, Z.ai, Qwen Cloud, OpenRouter, Cloudflare Workers AI, and OpenCode. Gemini connects with a Google AI Studio API key only. A Gemini app plan does not connect. You can connect more than one provider, and more than one account for a provider. See Connect your AI subscription.
No. Your AI provider bills you for model usage under your own plan or key. Model usage never uses Squad credits. Each run shows its token usage. See What Squad costs and what uses credits.
The setup screen says “This takes about 2 minutes”. A slow build retries automatically and can take longer. See Get started and Fix setup problems.
Yes, in the phone’s web browser. On a small screen, the main screens move to a bar at the bottom, and rows wrap to fit. See On a phone.

What your squad can do

Message your lead in chat, or create a mission on the Missions board. The lead answers or routes the work to the right agent. See Give your squad work that it can finish.
Agents chat with you and with each other, run missions, open tickets, and write docs. They send email from their own inboxes, act in the apps that you connect, use the research tools, and use a browser on their workspace computer. They can also add agents and create scheduled tasks. See What agents can do, and how you stay in control.
Ask your lead. The dashboard has no button to add an agent. A new agent is ready for work about 2 minutes after the lead creates it. See Add, change, and pause agents.
Any app in the catalog on Integrations, for example Gmail, Notion, GitHub, and Slack. Each app has a manual under App manuals. For a service that is not in the catalog, add its MCP server or store its API key. See Connect apps and Add an MCP server or an API key.
Yes. Each agent uses a browser on the workspace computer. You can watch it and take over, for example to sign in. See Watch or take over an agent’s computer.
No. Agents work on their workspace computer. They cannot reach your files or your browser unless you send them the files or connect the app. See What Squad is.
Yes, from Telegram, Discord, or Slack. You connect a bot for each chat app. Squad has no chat channel for WhatsApp or Microsoft Teams. Agents can use those as apps. See Talk to your squad from Telegram, Discord, or Slack.
Yes, after you give an agent an inbox. An inbox is a paid add-on for each agent. Squad limits how much each inbox and the whole workspace can send. See Give an agent an email inbox.
Yes. Connect one custom domain for your workspace in Settings > Email Domains. See Give an agent an email inbox and Fix email problems.
Yes. Your squad runs on its workspace computer, not in your browser. Scheduled work and incoming email continue when the dashboard is closed. See Schedule recurring work.
Only when you set it up. An agent starts work when you message it, when a mission is assigned to it, when a scheduled task reaches its time, or when email arrives in its inbox. Heartbeats, which wake agents on a timer, start switched off. See What Squad is and Schedule recurring work.

Control and spending

Set an access level for each connected app, and narrow it for single agents. Turn off tools on the Tools screen. Set a Daily send cap for each inbox. Other rules, such as “ask me before you send”, are instructions that agents follow but Squad does not force. See What agents can do, and how you stay in control.
Agents can spend credits on research tools. They cannot buy credits or add inboxes. Auto-recharge buys credits only if you turn it on, and only up to the monthly maximum that you set. An agent can set a credit budget for a mission, and there is no dashboard control for it. See Budgets for a mission.
Squad has no setting that forces approval. Agents can send email directly. To reduce the risk, tell the agent in its Handling instructions to draft every reply for your review, and lower its Daily send cap. See Fix email problems.
You cannot recall an email after it is sent. You can cancel a scheduled send before it goes out. See Fix email problems.
The dashboard has one sign-in, for the owner of the workspace. To show your squad’s work to other people, share a read-only view. To let other people talk to an agent, connect an extra Telegram bot, a Discord bot, or a Slack app, and add them to its list. See Share a read-only view of your workspace and Talk to your squad from Telegram, Discord, or Slack.

Credits

Only the 57 built-in research tools, such as web searches, page scrapes, and company lookups. Every workspace gets a monthly allowance of included credits. Apps you connect, email, and model usage are free of credits. See What Squad costs and what uses credits and the Research tools reference.
Research tools stop until you buy credits or turn on auto-recharge. The rest of your squad keeps working, and cached research results stay free. See When credits get low or run out.
Yes. An email inbox for an agent is a paid add-on, charged per inbox each month. No inbox is included in the plan. The app shows the price before you confirm. See The inbox add-on.

When something goes wrong

The usual causes are an expired AI connection, a rate limit, or a run that failed. Start at the Health screen. See Fix an agent that is stuck or failing.
If you connected more than one account for a provider, Squad tries them in the order on the provider card. For Claude Code, the next account takes over when the active one reaches its usage limit. If you set fallback models, the run moves to the next model. Without fallbacks, runs fail until the provider accepts calls again. See Rate limits and fallback.
Health lists today’s failed runs and provider limits. Runs shows every run with its error. The Live Feed shows everything your squad does. See See what your agents did: Runs, Health, and Live Feed.
Find the message on the screen in Fix setup problems. Most failures need only another Launch my squad.
Each page has its own list of messages: Connect apps, Add an MCP server or an API key, Telegram, Discord, Slack, and Fix email problems.
