Squad for Mac is in private beta.
App menus
The Go menu
The Go menu lists Today, then every place of the sidebar that you have, in the order of More, whatever you pinned: Email, Docs, Contacts, Wallet, Routines, Tasks, Activity, Skills, and, for the owner and Administrators, What your squad knows. Then it lists Needs you, History, and, for the owner and Administrators while your squad’s computer is on, Computer. Only Today, Email, Docs, and Contacts have number shortcuts, and they stay the same when you pin other places. Each item brings the main window to the front. Contacts and Wallet show only when they are available for your squad. Next New Reply opens the newest conversation with a reply that you have not seen, across your teammates and group chats. Press it again for the next one.Text size
View > Bigger, Smaller, and Actual Size make the whole window and the menu bar panel bigger or smaller. The notch keeps its size. Squad remembers the size between launches. Bigger is off at the largest size, Smaller at the smallest, and Actual Size at the default size.Find
⌘F, or Edit > Find…, finds in what you look at, as in a web browser:
In the find bar:
The bar shows where you are, for example “3 of 12”, or “No matches”. Every match is marked, and the current match is marked more strongly. Opening another conversation, doc, or email closes the bar.
Back and forward
Squad keeps a history of the places that you open: a screen and what it has open, for example a conversation, a task, an email, a doc, a project, or a History view. Opening a new place clears Forward. Switching squads starts the history over. For how many places Squad keeps, see Limits and defaults.
⌘← and ⌘→, the mouse buttons, and the swipe work only in the main window, not in Settings, a sheet, or the notch. When there is nowhere to go, the key or the swipe goes to what is under it.
The menu bar panel
See The menu bar.
Global shortcuts
These work in any app while Squad runs. Change them in Settings > This Mac > General > Shortcuts.
In the Delegate panel, ⌘↩ sends and Esc closes. See Delegate, talk, and use Siri.
Command palette
See The command palette on Squad for Mac.
The sidebar
On a place in the sidebar, for example Docs or Wallet, while you point to it or Tab is on it:
You can also drag a pinned place to another spot. See The sidebar on Squad for Mac.
Keyboard navigation
Tab reaches every control in every Squad window, whatever your Mac’s Keyboard navigation setting is. The order is the sidebar, then the screen. In a list, Tab goes through every row in reading order, also the rows off screen, then leaves the list. The focus ring shows only after you press Tab. A click hides it.
Row letters act while you point to the row or Tab is on it. They never act while you type in a box, or in a teammate’s browser on your squad’s computer.
Chat
Letters on a conversation row, while you point to it or Tab is on it:
A group chat’s row has U and R. A letter does only what the row’s menu offers you. See The conversation list.
A teammate’s setup
Needs you
The keys act on the question with the stronger border. A and the digits do nothing while a resolved question is open, or for a role that cannot answer. See Needs you on Squad for Mac.
Tasks
See Tasks on Squad for Mac and Email on Squad for Mac.
Docs
Skills
See Edit a skill’s instructions.
History
These keys work while no run is open.Routines and triggers
See Routines on Squad for Mac and History on Squad for Mac.
Projects
See Group conversations into projects.
The notch
With Close notch cards with Esc from any app on, Esc in another app also closes a card that the notch opened by itself. Your app still gets the Esc. See Use the notch and the menu bar.
Contacts
The letters act on the row that you point at or that Tab is on, never while you type. A letter does only what you can do on that row. See Contacts on Squad for Mac (private beta).
