## Before you buy

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="What is Squad?">
    Squad gives you a team of AI agents in a web dashboard. A lead agent, named **Chief of Staff** by default, plans the work and adds more agents when you need them. The agents run on their own workspace computer, on the AI account that you connect. You give them work in chat or as missions. When they need a decision from you, they open a ticket. See [What Squad is](/docs/what-squad-is).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What do I need before I start?">
    A Squad subscription and an account with an AI provider, such as ChatGPT or Claude. Your agents run on your AI account. See [Connect your AI subscription](/docs/connect-your-ai).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Is there a free trial?">
    No. You pay at checkout, before your workspace is built. Your first payment has a 7-day money-back guarantee. See [Get a refund](/docs/billing#get-a-refund).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What does Squad cost?">
    There is one monthly plan. For the price, see [Squad pricing](https://squad.so/#pricing). Your AI provider bills you for model usage. Research tools use credits, and each workspace gets included credits every month. Email inboxes are a paid add-on. See [What Squad costs and what uses credits](/docs/costs).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Which AI providers can I use?">
    ChatGPT · Codex, Claude Code, Claude, Grok, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, Kimi, MiniMax, Z.ai, Qwen Cloud, OpenRouter, Cloudflare Workers AI, and OpenCode. Gemini connects with a Google AI Studio API key only. A Gemini app plan does not connect. You can connect more than one provider, and more than one account for a provider. See [Connect your AI subscription](/docs/connect-your-ai).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Does Squad charge me for AI usage?">
    No. Your AI provider bills you for model usage under your own plan or key. Model usage never uses Squad credits. Each run shows its token usage. See [What Squad costs and what uses credits](/docs/costs).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How long does setup take?">
    The setup screen says "This takes about 2 minutes". A slow build retries automatically and can take longer. See [Get started](/docs/get-started) and [Fix setup problems](/docs/setup-troubles).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I use Squad on my phone?">
    Yes, in the phone's web browser. On a small screen, the main screens move to a bar at the bottom, and rows wrap to fit. See [On a phone](/docs/what-squad-is#on-a-phone).
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## What your squad can do

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="How do I give my squad work?">
    Message your lead in chat, or create a mission on the **Missions** board. The lead answers or routes the work to the right agent. See [Give your squad work that it can finish](/docs/delegate).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What can agents do on their own?">
    Agents chat with you and with each other, run missions, open tickets, and write docs. They send email from their own inboxes, act in the apps that you connect, use the research tools, and use a browser on their workspace computer. They can also add agents and create scheduled tasks. See [What agents can do, and how you stay in control](/docs/control).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do I add an agent?">
    Ask your lead. The dashboard has no button to add an agent. A new agent is ready for work about 2 minutes after the lead creates it. See [Add, change, and pause agents](/docs/agents).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Which apps can my agents use?">
    Any app in the catalog on **Integrations**, for example Gmail, Notion, GitHub, and Slack. Each app has a manual under **App manuals**. For a service that is not in the catalog, add its MCP server or store its API key. See [Connect apps](/docs/integrations) and [Add an MCP server or an API key](/docs/custom-integrations).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can agents use a web browser?">
    Yes. Each agent uses a browser on the workspace computer. You can watch it and take over, for example to sign in. See [Watch or take over an agent's computer](/docs/computer).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do agents work on my own computer?">
    No. Agents work on their workspace computer. They cannot reach your files or your browser unless you send them the files or connect the app. See [What Squad is](/docs/what-squad-is#what-squad-does-not-do).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I talk to my squad outside the dashboard?">
    Yes, from Telegram, Discord, or Slack. You connect a bot for each chat app. Squad has no chat channel for WhatsApp or Microsoft Teams. Agents can use those as apps. See [Talk to your squad from Telegram, Discord, or Slack](/docs/channels).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can agents send email?">
    Yes, after you give an agent an inbox. An inbox is a paid add-on for each agent. Squad limits how much each inbox and the whole workspace can send. See [Give an agent an email inbox](/docs/email).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I use my own email domain?">
    Yes. Connect one custom domain for your workspace in **Settings** > **Email Domains**. See [Give an agent an email inbox](/docs/email#connect-your-own-domain) and [Fix email problems](/docs/email-troubles#the-custom-domain-does-not-verify).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do agents keep working when I close the dashboard?">
    Yes. Your squad runs on its workspace computer, not in your browser. Scheduled work and incoming email continue when the dashboard is closed. See [Schedule recurring work](/docs/scheduled).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do agents work when nobody asks them?">
    Only when you set it up. An agent starts work when you message it, when a mission is assigned to it, when a scheduled task reaches its time, or when email arrives in its inbox. Heartbeats, which wake agents on a timer, start switched off. See [What Squad is](/docs/what-squad-is#when-agents-work) and [Schedule recurring work](/docs/scheduled).
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## Control and spending

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="How do I limit what agents can do?">
    Set an access level for each connected app, and narrow it for single agents. Turn off tools on the **Tools** screen. Set a **Daily send cap** for each inbox. Other rules, such as "ask me before you send", are instructions that agents follow but Squad does not force. See [What agents can do, and how you stay in control](/docs/control).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can agents spend my money?">
    Agents can spend credits on research tools. They cannot buy credits or add inboxes. Auto-recharge buys credits only if you turn it on, and only up to the monthly maximum that you set. An agent can set a credit budget for a mission, and there is no dashboard control for it. See [Budgets for a mission](/docs/costs#budgets-for-a-mission).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I approve every email before it goes out?">
    Squad has no setting that forces approval. Agents can send email directly. To reduce the risk, tell the agent in its **Handling instructions** to draft every reply for your review, and lower its **Daily send cap**. See [Fix email problems](/docs/email-troubles#an-agent-sent-something-that-it-should-not-send).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I undo something that an agent did?">
    You cannot recall an email after it is sent. You can cancel a scheduled send before it goes out. See [Fix email problems](/docs/email-troubles#a-scheduled-send-fails-or-does-not-go-out).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can other people use my dashboard?">
    The dashboard has one sign-in, for the owner of the workspace. To show your squad's work to other people, share a read-only view. To let other people talk to an agent, connect an extra Telegram bot, a Discord bot, or a Slack app, and add them to its list. See [Share a read-only view of your workspace](/docs/sharing) and [Talk to your squad from Telegram, Discord, or Slack](/docs/channels).
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## Credits

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="What uses credits?">
    Only the 57 built-in research tools, such as web searches, page scrapes, and company lookups. Every workspace gets a monthly allowance of included credits. Apps you connect, email, and model usage are free of credits. See [What Squad costs and what uses credits](/docs/costs) and the [Research tools reference](/docs/research-tools).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What happens when I run out of credits?">
    Research tools stop until you buy credits or turn on auto-recharge. The rest of your squad keeps working, and cached research results stay free. See [When credits get low or run out](/docs/costs#when-credits-get-low-or-run-out).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Does email cost extra?">
    Yes. An email inbox for an agent is a paid add-on, charged per inbox each month. No inbox is included in the plan. The app shows the price before you confirm. See [The inbox add-on](/docs/costs#the-inbox-add-on).
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## When something goes wrong

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Why does my agent not reply?">
    The usual causes are an expired AI connection, a rate limit, or a run that failed. Start at the Health screen. See [Fix an agent that is stuck or failing](/docs/agent-stuck).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What happens when my AI account hits its limit?">
    If you connected more than one account for a provider, Squad tries them in the order on the provider card. For Claude Code, the next account takes over when the active one reaches its usage limit. If you set fallback models, the run moves to the next model. Without fallbacks, runs fail until the provider accepts calls again. See [Rate limits and fallback](/docs/agent-stuck#rate-limits-and-fallback).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Where do I see what went wrong?">
    **Health** lists today's failed runs and provider limits. **Runs** shows every run with its error. The **Live Feed** shows everything your squad does. See [See what your agents did: Runs, Health, and Live Feed](/docs/runs-and-health).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Setup failed. What now?">
    Find the message on the screen in [Fix setup problems](/docs/setup-troubles). Most failures need only another **Launch my squad**.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="An app, bot, or inbox shows an error. Where do I look?">
    Each page has its own list of messages: [Connect apps](/docs/integrations#troubleshooting), [Add an MCP server or an API key](/docs/custom-integrations#troubleshooting), [Telegram](/docs/telegram#troubleshooting), [Discord](/docs/discord#troubleshooting), [Slack](/docs/slack#troubleshooting), and [Fix email problems](/docs/email-troubles).
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## Your account

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="How do I cancel?">
    Open **Settings** > **Billing** and select **Cancel subscription**. The cancellation takes effect at the end of your billing period, and you can undo it before then. See [Cancel your subscription](/docs/billing#cancel-your-subscription).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What happens to my data when I cancel?">
    After the end date, your workspace is locked and scheduled for deletion, and your agents stop. Export your data before the end date. See [What happens at the end date](/docs/billing#what-happens-at-the-end-date).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What does the export contain?">
    Your agents, all missions with comments, all docs, and the latest 500 activity items and squad chat messages. It does not contain run history, email, memory, skills, or settings. See [Export your data](/docs/billing#export-your-data).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I get a refund?">
    Your first payment is refundable within 7 days. Email [support@squad.so](mailto:support@squad.so) from your account email. Renewals and credit purchases are not refundable. See [Get a refund](/docs/billing#get-a-refund).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do I start over?">
    Open **Settings** > **General**, select **Reset workspace**, and type `RESET`. This deletes everything in your workspace and cannot be undone. See [Reset your workspace](/docs/billing#reset-your-workspace).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do I delete my workspace?">
    Email [support@squad.so](mailto:support@squad.so). The dashboard cannot delete a workspace. See [Delete your workspace](/docs/billing#delete-your-workspace).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do I contact support?">
